While last night’s American Music Awards were not as crazy as the EMA’s, it was great to see the female artists who performed completely stealing the show. In case you missed it, here are the moments everyone is talking about:
Taylor Swift opened the show with the first-ever live performance of her new song, ‘Blank Space’. She delivered an extremely accurate and entertaining portrayal of a ‘crazy girlfriend’ by (literally) setting the stage on fire.
Selena Gomez sang her new song, ‘The Heart Wants What It Wants’, which is apparently about Justin Bieber.
Lorde reminded us of dancing in our bedrooms as teenagers. She started her performance of ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ in a closed room off-stage and treated us to her signature wild dancing.
Iggy Azalea accepted the award for Best Rap/Hip Hop act and said in her speech, ‘Musicians, we receive so much critique, some time you question what you’re doing, and this validates that I’m on the right path.’ We can only assume she was talking about the remarks male rappers like Eminem and Snoop Dogg have made about her.
Iggy also joined J-Lo to perform their song ‘Booty’. J-Lo had a dance break during the song – which made us wish we were more dedicated to doing squats.
